planning for THEND

Posted by raymond at 7:05 PM
steps to complete:
1. finish our awareness-raising project (poster, Facebook group, etc.) - and create a new timeline
2. prove we did what we said we would do (photo, video, comments, etc.) on our blogs
3. small group sharing
4. get external input - poll or peer evaluation
5. self-evaluation - did I do what I said I would do? was my project successful? how did I prove what I did?

class timeline:-
Monday, June 7: steps one and two completed-
Monday, June 7: small group sharing and peer evaluations-
Tuesday, June 8: self-evaluations (project evaluation?)

Ends Statement

Posted by raymond at 8:27 AM
Citizenship: Each student will be a responsible citizen by being an informed and involved member in his or her local, national and global communities.

Character: Each student will possess the character to do what is right, act morally with wisdom, and balance individual concerns with the rights and needs of others.

I'm going to focus on Character, i believe increasing awareness about game addiction it would help build character.

Why Should Me, My self, and I/Others Care?

Posted by raymond at 6:42 PM
Problem: addiction to video games
How You Can Help?
-First of all, you can set a timeline for the person of how many hours they can play each day or each week.
-Force them to focus more on their job/school work.
-Encouraging them through the procces of getting less addicited.
Why Do I Care?
-You should care because the person that is addicted could be your best friend(s) or even apart of your family.
-If you don't care, then the person would think that you don't mind him playing and he would just continue.
Why Should Others Care?
-Others should care because they could have this problem themselves, and maybe helping others they can learn how to help themselfe overcome this problem.

HomeWork

1. Do computers give us less human connection or more human connection?

-Yes, it gives more human connection in a way because you could be online and using a mic to talk.
-No, it does not give more human connection because it seperates you from reality and you ignore people while you are playing.

2. 5 Rules for manners and ethics while using a computer

-Don't play while you're not suppose to
-Restrain from using harsh language
-Be nice and don't leave mean comments
-Don't go to inappropiate or not suitable sites for school and your age
-Don't download any software without permission

3. Should teachers encourage multitasking?

-No, teachers should not encourage multitasking so you can focus on one thing and do good at it, than to do several things and mess up. Multitasking also makes you more stupid.

4. Create a 6 word poem

-Free Online Multiplayer Action, Fun and Addicted

To much Video Games, Can Make a Difference In Your Life.
Many people have died because of an addiction to their computer or electronic devices. We can all help by joining the group on facebook called Gaming Addiction (http://www.facebook.com/?ref=logo#!/group.php?gid=119126988122709&ref=ts), and spread awareness together.
